INDOOR LACROSSE RULES

The rules for Indoor Lacrosse will follow the most recent NCAA rules for the outdoor game. We will use official 6x6 Lacrosse goals. The exceptions to the rules of the field game will be as follows;

  • This will be a fun, skills improvement league and is intended to provide a place to play lacrosse with no added pressures. While disagreement with an official's call may be expected, it serves no purpose to berate or argue with the officials and will not be tolerated. Any players, coaches or parents who do not comply with these rules will be asked to leave immediately.
  • Two 20-minute halves, running time. 5-minute halftime, 5-minute transition between games.
  • No time outs. Clock will only stop for injuries and the time must be made up between halves or games to maintain the tight game schedule each night.
  • Penalty time will be 1-½ times the regulation time, due to halves being running time. Time served begins on referee's whistle for restart. Players serving penalties will not be allowed to re-enter the field during a dead ball situation, or after a face-off until "possession" has been called. (Normal penalty release exceptions after a goal).
  • After each goal, the team will that has allowed the goal will start with the ball on their end to keep the play of the game moving. Every three goals that have been scored will be restarted with a face-off.
  • All substitutions will be made "on the fly" or after goals have been scored.
  • During the final 2 minutes of the game, the stalling restrictions will be enforced on the team with the lead. The team ahead in score will be instructed to 'keep it in' their attack HALF of the field.
  • In the event of a tie score at the end of regulation time, there will be a 5 minute sudden-death period. If there has not been a goal after the five-minute period, the game will end in a tie.
  • Game will be played by 7 players on the field for each team. There will be No Take out checks. If contact doesn't reduce, we will eliminate another player on the field.

o 1 goalie with full equipment

o 2 defenders

o 2 Middie

o 2 attack

  • One goalie stick will be allowed and goalie equipment ;
  • All players WILL wear required equipment as follows or will NOT be allowed to play, NO exceptions....helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves, and turf shoes. Goalies may wear baseball catcher style shin guards, but this is not required.
  • Face-off- defensive and offensive players must remain in their areas until possession is called or the ball enters their area.
  • The goalie will have 4 seconds to clear the ball from the crease.
  • No "take-out" checks. This is league that emphasizes skill development, not make up for lack thereof with physical play. These checks will be penalized as Unnecessary Roughness.
  • Any combination of three personal fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct penalties in the same game against one player will result in ejection from that game and suspension from the next game. Any flagrant foul is subject to immediate ejection at the discretion of the officials. Ejected players/coaches must leave the team area.
  • Anything not covered in the rules will be decided at the time by the discretion of the officials and is subject to change for the next game played.
  • In an effort to make this league safe and fun for participants we will institute the following rules regarding fights. If a player gets into a fight, the player will be ejected from all Games for the remainder of the season. This behavior will not be tolerated. The Coordinator will work with officials to ensure this is followed.
  • If there is a fight and players leave the bench, the game will be forfeited and the entire team will be suspended for remainder of season
