Star Hill Summer Swim Team - Swim team will begin on Tuesday, June 12th. All parents are invited for a parents meeting at 6:30 while the kids start practice. The Star Hill swim team is a recreational swim team that welcomes children ages 4-18 and skill levels from beginners to novice swimmers. The goal of the Star Hill swim team is to provide a safe environment for children to learn all four of the competitive strokes and have fun competing. It is the intent of the program that each child is given an opportunity for self growth through physical, social and psychological skills. Our goal for each child is to make new friends, develop positive self-esteem, practice good sportsmanship, attain team unity and achieve goals through proper goal setting. Recreational Swim Team Comes to Tolland! – by Stephanie Ternullo, Tolland Resident, Senior at East Catholic High School
Winter is right around the corner, and that means no school, lots of sun, and plenty of time to have fun with your friends. I am proud to announce that Star Hill Family Athletic Center, located in Tolland, is offering a brand-new recreational swim team for kids of all ages and experience. When Star Hill opened in Tolland, I was thrilled. I have been a swimmer for years, and I grew up listening to rumors of the possibility of a pool in town, but this vision seemed unrealistic until I saw the tangible proof in Star Hill’s beautiful facility. During this year I have watched the aquatics programs grow as more and more people learned of the opportunities the pool has to offer, and I have personally enjoyed participating in many of them.
As a resident of Tolland and competitive swimmer, I have been looking forward to coaching the Star Hill Swim Team for months. I have watched kids improve every week during swim lessons, and I have learned to share my joy of swimming with others. Having a pool in town is such a great opportunity that I wish I had when I was younger. As a kid, I knew a lot of people who were interested in swimming but never had the time to make the long commutes to other towns. Now, Star Hill’s team makes it convenient and fun for kids to get involved in the sport.
Practices will start Sunday, October 2nd. Although none of the practices are mandatory, everyone is encouraged to participate as much as possible. The swim team will be a great opportunity to try something new, meet new friends, and work with an experienced coaching staff that will help the swimmers with stroke technique and endurance. The entire Star Hill coaching staff is excited for the season and can’t wait to get started! If you have any questions or would like to sign up, please visit our website at www.starhillsports.com, or call Marci at (860)871-8800.
